Garrison is an exciting place to work where you’ll be able to get involved in regular social events (but in no way limited to) games nights, theatre trips, drone racing and summer picnics – we have continued all our socials virtually during the current pandemic.
We also look after our employee’s well-being from weekly workouts to meditation sessions, free counselling via our Employee Assistance Program and trained mental health first-aiders. There are several perks available to all staff from retail discounts and freebies, life assurance and critical illness cover, participation in the cycle to work scheme and interest-free public transport season ticket loans.
The one thing we owe our success to is a team of incredibly dedicated and innovative people which is why we offer each employee opportunities to expand their knowledge with an annual training allowance and training days.
As a business, we want to reduce our impact on the planet, which is why we have created a Sustainability Committee which is dedicated to considering our policies and implementing measures to reduce Garrison’s carbon footprint. We firmly believe that every small step makes a difference. Our steps so far include a carbon offsetting scheme to offset our travel emissions by planting trees, encouraging better habits in the office such as recycling, switching to “bean-to-cup” fair trade coffee (and recycling the coffee grounds to make logs!) and making sustainable choices when it comes to purchasing office supplies. There is still much to be done, and we strive to get there, one step at a time.
Our highest priority is doing good by our team, but we are also dedicated to supporting our local community and giving back where we can. Through a series of initiatives lead by our employees and EDI Committee, we raise money to support local and national causes. To date these initiatives include bake sales for Red Nose Day, Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children and giving dedicated talks internally to raise awareness of causes we care about such as Women in Tech and Black Lives Matter. During the pandemic we also launched a step challenge, not only to keep our staff active during the national lockdown but to raise money for Waterloo Foodbank.
